Classical Guitar 1974

ndres Segovia once told me he was in pursuit of an illusion. He was looking for the Perfect Guitar. In the year 1975 his dream came true. Every year, for many years, I always showed Maestro Segovia the finest guitars Jose Ramirez III sent to Sherry-Brener. I found three great instruments and took them to Maestro Segovia at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.
Present were the Maestro, his wife, guitarist Guillermo Fierens, and Douglas Neidt. After playing the three guitars, Maestro Segovia exclaimed, "You found not only one perfect guitar, but two"!
However, there was much confusion as to what was best. Mrs. Segovia thought Ref.no.9200 was best. Maestro Segovia thought Ref.no. 1530 was best. After four guitarists played these guitars for quite a while, Segovia settled for guitar Ref.no.9200. At the end of the afternoon as he was seeing Fierens, Neidt, and I to the door, he whispered me to save Ref.no.1530 for him.
